Prayer Topic #7:
A Prayer of Thanksgiving for God’s Favor
Scripture Reading:
Psalm 136, Ephesians 5:20
Reflections of the Heart:
Today, we join in corporate thanksgiving for God’s favor, mercy and loving-kindness towards us. It is not that we have been so good, but because He is good. We are tremendously blessed. God’s mercy endures forever and we are to be thankful for it. Let us share with others our personal thanks to God.
Scriptural Prayer:
Our Father, we give thanks to You for You are faithful even when we have been faithless. You are the Most High God, the only true and living God. You are excellent in all of Your ways. The heavens are Your throne and the earth Your footstool. Lord, You are good and Your faithful love endures forever. You are the great I Am, the Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. You are our Creator and Savior. We will continually sing praises to You and declare that You are the King over all of the earth!
Righteous Father, we are so very grateful for Your favor which surrounds us like a shield! By faith, we declare as a Church Family that we stand on Your Word and speak Your truth. Your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light unto our path. Lord, it is Your will that we live life abundantly. Therefore, we walk by faith and not by sight as we trust in Your precious promises. As a Church Family, we trust and believe that no good thing will be kept from us as we walk uprightly before You. Lord, we thank You for placing a wall of protection around us so that we will continue to prosper in that we put our hands we do. Hallel YAH!
Holy Spirit, please continue showing us Your ways, teaching us Your paths and leading us in Your truth. Help us to consistently demonstrate our gratitude to the Father for the abundant blessings in our lives and to always give Him glory. Give us wisdom and vision so that our relationships bring honor to God, our Father. Strengthen us as we tell others about You to encourage those who are not seeking You. Lord, we thank You for protecting us from hurt and harm and for filling our hearts with Your joy.
God’s favor is upon my life in the following areas.
Holy Spirit, forgive us for all acts of sinfulness including jealousy, violence, injustice, hatred, oppression, greed, idolatry, pride, slander, selfish ambition, abuse of any type and division. Forgive those who choose not to trust in You. Forgive those who are Christians for not sharing Your Gospel with their family members, co-workers and others with whom they interact. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)
Holy Spirit, help us not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.
Lord God Almighty, You are holy and righteous. You are great and deserving of praise. We love You and will bless Your Name forever. Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
