Prayer Topic #9:
A Prayer for Women and Girls
Scripture Reading:
I Samuel 2:1-10, Colossians 1:9-14
Reflections of the Heart:
Women are God’s woven tapestry. God loves women so much that He sent His Son to earth through one. Created in His image, women are the strength and beauty of a society, whether single or married, may our lives be a daily reflection of His Glory! God used a woman to bring Jesus Christ, our Savior, into the world and He continues to empower women to work in His Kingdom.
Scriptural Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You are our God and there is none other, we worship You in the beauty of Your holiness. You are the true and living God to whom all honor and glory belongs. We thank You for creating us in Your image. Thank You for Your plans for good and not for disaster, to give us a future and a hope. We declare our thanks and devotion to You for Your goodness and loving kindness towards us. We will love You, Lord our strength. You are our rock, our fortress, and our deliverer. You are our God, our strength in whom we will trust. Thank You, Father, for blessing the women and girls of our Church Family.
Omnipotent Father, You created women to be the mothers of humanity. Today, we declare that the women and girls in the body of Christ will not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but they will be transformed by the Holy Spirit to do what is good and pleasing and perfect in Your sight. We confess that they will possess love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We declare that wives will honor their husbands and submit themselves to You by loving their husbands. We confess that single women will excel in their academic and professional careers and they will devote themselves to serving You. We decree that our girls will love the Lord with all of their hearts, minds, and strength and like Ruth, Esther, and Lydia, they will be faithful in their assignments and excel in all they do. Our girls shall become great leaders, loving wives and excellent mothers. Our women are blessed and they shall flourish like palm trees and be as strong as the cedars of Lebanon. They are planted in Your house and they shall flourish in Your courts. Our women will bear fruit in their old age and they will be fresh and flourishing. They will declare that You, Lord, are upright, You are their Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in You. We declare that mothers will train up their children in the way they should go and when they are old, they will not depart from Your ways. We confess with holy boldness that our women who are mothers will give their children the Word of God, love, and encouragement.
Holy Spirit, we ask You to fill each woman and girl in the body of Christ with the knowledge of God’s Word in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Please order their days so that their daily activities are balanced and fruitful. Make the crooked places in their families straight and perfect those things that concern them. Please help our single and married women to live with all godliness and contentment, which is great gain. For those singles who desire a mate, help them to wait patiently on You. Knit the hearts of our married women closer together with their husbands and give them courage to live Your Word in every facet of their marriage. Father, please restore the broken places in those marriages that are struggling. Help our women to honor their husbands. Increase Your love and security in those marriages that are doing well. Holy Spirit, strengthen our mothers who have newborns and toddlers. Help them to be patient with their children. Send help, if needed, and increase their support system. Holy Spirit, train our girls to be respectful, responsible, and resourceful. Help our girls to take care of their bodies and minds.
Holy Spirit, show me how to be a blessing to a woman in my Church Family:
Merciful Father, please forgive our women and girls for not trusting You totally with their lives. Forgive them for quick tempers and lack of patience. Forgive those who are mothers for not raising their children according to Your Word. Forgive our mothers for allowing the television, radio, video games, music, older siblings, and activities to raise their children. Forgive them for saying negative words against their children’s father and for not providing a nurturing environment. Forgive our girls for being disrespectful and disobedient. Forgive our girls for succumbing to peer pressure. Forgive both married and single women for not seeking help when they are feeling anxious, depressed, fretful, angry, and overwhelmed. Father, please forgive our women and girls for all their sins. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed.) Holy Spirit, help our women and girls to forgive family members, friends, and loved ones who have hurt or offended them. Father, heal emotional wounds caused by these hurts. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)
Wonderful Father, help them not to yield to temptation but deliver them from the evil one.
Lord, blessed are You, forever and ever. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and power. All that is in heaven and in earth is Yours. Yours is the Kingdom, Lord, and You are exalted as head over all. Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; in Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name. In Jesus’ name, amen.
