Prayer Topic #10:
A Prayer of Thanksgiving for Jesus Christ, our Passover Lamb
Scripture Reading:
Psalm 19, John 1:29-34
Reflections of the Heart:
“Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us. So let us celebrate the festival, not with the old bread of wickedness and evil, but with the new bread of sincerity and truth!” I Corinthians 5:7-8
Scriptural Prayer:
Our Father God, we thank You for loving us so much that You gave Your one and only Son (Jesus, our Passover Lamb), so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. We love and adore You. Lord Jesus, thank You for sacrificing Your life on the cross for our sins. Because of You, we can now stand before You as pure, holy, and justified. We also thank You for sending the Holy Spirit, our Comforter. Holy Spirit, thank You for filling us with love, fruit, gifts and power. We exalt You, our God and King. We praise Your Name forever and ever. Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on our tongue. We will proclaim Your greatness. Everyone will share the story of Your wonderful goodness. We will sing with joy about Your righteousness.
Jesus, our Bread of Life, we are grateful that You have given us peace with God. Because of Your obedience and sacrifice there is no longer a void between us and our Heavenly Father. Lord, You were wounded for our transgressions. You were bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon You, and by Your stripes we are healed. Hallel YAH! When we were utterly helpless, You came at just the right time and died for us sinners. You are the King of kings and Lord of lords. A passover lamb was sacrificed and its blood was used as a sign of redemption from death for the children of Israel. That is what God made You to be for us – our Passover Lamb. We will forever praise and honor You. Because of You, we now have eternal life. We proclaim that You, have the highest place of honor. Your Name is above all other names. At Your Name every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that You are Lord. Thank You for redeeming us and placing the Kingdom of God within us.
Who do men say that Jesus is? Who do you say that He is?
Holy Spirit, help us to reflect daily on the grace of God through the ministry of Jesus. Help us to stay focused on Kingdom business instead of worldly desires, and selfish cares and concerns. Help us to regard Jesus’ Name as holy. Help us to keep renewing our minds daily until the image of Christ is formed on the inside of us. Especially, at this appointed time, help us to show great reverence for the suffering, the shame, and the sacrifice of our Lord. And keep us humbled in knowing that were it not for Jesus Christ, we would have no hope at all.
Loving Father, forgive us for at times disregarding the sacrifice the Lord Jesus made to secure our freedom. Forgive us for taking unfair advantage of that freedom. Forgive those of us for failing to observe communion with You and with our families. Forgive us for not teaching our children to honor the Lord Jesus. Forgive us for making excuses for our disobedience in doing our part to fulfill the Great Commission. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)
Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.
Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice. You are the Lord, our Redeemer and Creator, who made all things. You alone stretched out the heavens. You reign forever, executing judgment from Your throne. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
