Prayer Topic #4:
A Prayer for a Successful National Day of Prayer (NDP)
Scripture Reading:
Psalm 97, Joshua 1:6-9
Reflections of the Heart:
What an amazing opportunity to gather with other believers on one accord to adore our Heavenly Father and proclaim His will over our city! As the nation embarks on the National Day of Prayer, keep this extraordinary event in your prayers.
Scriptural Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Holy and Righteous is Your name. You are a great God, and a great King above all other gods. You are our God and we are the people of Your pasture, and the sheep of Your hand. Lord, You are our source and in You we place our trust. Father, we thank You for the observance of the National Day of Prayer in our nation. Thank You for calling our nation to pray. Thank You, Lord, for all persons who will join in prayer. We give thanks to You, Lord, for You are good. Your mercy endures forever.
Father, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in our nation through the National Day of Prayer. We confess that we will worship and give You glory. We declare that this event will be an extraordinary experience of powerful praise and prayer. We declare that the Spirit of the Lord will rest upon all speakers, musical artists, and ministry teams that may gather in small groups. As a result, we expect Your anointing to fall upon us as we gather in our city to pray. Lord, it is our expectation that people from all denominations and cultures throughout the United States and the world will respond to the call to pray as they hear the advertisements and public service announcements about the National Day of Prayer.
We declare that Your Word, which we speak with boldness and faith, will interrupt the airwaves and destroy every word that is spoken by the media that does not align with Your will for this event. In Jesus’ name, we take authority over the Prince of the Air and command the airwaves to submit to God’s will for this momentous event. Lord, we confess that mercy and truth will not forsake all participants; they will bind them around their necks and write them on their hearts. As they do this, they will have favor with You and men. We declare that as each of them commit their works to You, their plans will succeed. We confess that we will pray without ceasing for the success of the National Day of Prayer. Lord, we expect Your blessings to abound in the lives of all persons who will unite in prayer.
What specific things would you like to occur during National Day of Prayer? List and pray about them:
Father, we ask You to save the lost in our city and nation on this day. Touch the hearts of believers throughout the city to pray for the unsaved. Please fill the planning team with the knowledge of Your Word in all wisdom and spiritual understanding as they prepare for the event. Strengthen each of them and keep them healthy. Bless the works of their hands to meet the needs of the Kingdom and to bless Your people. Holy Spirit, show us how to be overflowing vessels and examples of Your love, life, and liberty as we pray. Grant each person supernatural insight and creative ideas during this season of prayer. Fill our lives, families, churches, workplaces, education, government, entertainment, and media with biblical, spirit-empowerment.
Father, forgive us as a city for our many sins. Forgive us for hypocrisy, injustice, oppression, greed, racism, sexism, elitism, deceit, lying, lewdness, pornography, selfish ambitions, lawlessness, rebellion, violence, hatred, partiality, sexual promiscuity, homosexuality, adultery, fornication, and slander. Forgive the Body of Christ for not representing Your Kingdom by witnessing to the unsaved. Lord, remind us to be forgiving; and help us to forgive.
Holy Spirit, help us not to yield to temptation but deliver them from the evil one.
You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power. You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created. We honor You as our King. In Jesus’ name, amen.
