Prayer Topic #3:
A Prayer for Our Church Staff
Scripture Reading:
Psalm 112, Hebrews 6:9-12
Reflections of the Heart:
It has been said that in order to give real service, you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity. Let us thank God for our church staff and their devoted service to our church family as we pray for them today.
Scriptural Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for our church staff. Thank You for the long hours they put in and for the sacrifices they make in order to provide our church family with excellent service. Thank You for keeping and upholding them and their families. Lord, because of Your unfailing love, we can enter Your house. We will worship at Your Temple with deepest awe. We love You, Lord. You are our strength. You are so good and so merciful. We give honor and glory to Your holy name today.
Sovereign Father, we declare that our church staff loves one another as You have loved them. By this all will know that they are Your disciples. We decree that they will be strong and immovable as they go about their daily tasks. They will always work enthusiastically for You, knowing that nothing they do for You is ever useless. When they are met with opposition, challenges, rudeness, or disrespect, we confess that they will keep a calm demeanor, trusting You to fight their battles. We decree that they will never let loyalty and kindness leave them. They will tie them around their neck as a reminder and write them deep within their hearts. Then they will have favor with both You and people, and they will earn a good reputation. We believe that our staff will excel in everything they put their hands to and we expect blessings to overtake them.
Ask the Holy Spirit how you can specifically show your appreciation for their service:
Holy Spirit, please help our church staff to always operate in unity and peace with one another, even if they have differences of opinion. Let the love of Jesus abide in their hearts continually. May the fruit of the Spirit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control be evident in their daily interactions with others. Help them to care for their physical health appropriately by getting enough rest, sleep, healthy nutrition, and exercise. Show them how to balance their work and home life so that they do not become stressed and frustrated. Help them to stay committed to their personal spiritual growth through regular prayer, fasting, and the study of Your Word. Give them supernatural wisdom to solve problems, develop strategies, and produce effective results as they meet the demands of this growing ministry.
Merciful Father, forgive our church staff for their sins. Forgive them for outbursts of anger, jealousy, envy, strife, gossiping, murmuring, complaining, anxiety, confusion, and dissension. Forgive those who are not reflecting Your character to their co-workers. Forgive those who have lost sight of Your purpose for placing them on our church staff. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind our church staff of all those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)
Holy Father, help our church staff not to yield to temptation but deliver them from the evil one.
Lord of Heaven’s Armies, all heaven will praise Your great wonders. Myriad of angels will praise You for Your faithfulness. For who in all of heaven can compare with You? What mightiest angel is anything like You? The highest angelic powers stand in awe of You. You are far more awesome than all who surround Your throne. In Jesus’ name, amen.
